WordPress is the primary blogging service that is offered to faculty, staff and students at Georgetown University. It is used by faculty for course blogs, research blogs, etc and by students for ePortfolios. Several departments also use it as their primary CMS. I co-manage a pretty large installation of WordPress at Georgetown University. We have almost 7500 blogs used by faculty, staff and students. I manage the team of developers and user support specialists who co-manage this space with me. This is one of our biggest successes and has the highest adoption rates thanks to WordPress’ flexibility in being able to achieve a lot of things.
I also contribute to the custom code base in the form of themes and plugins. One of the most rewarding experience is realizing how a small team of very dedicated folks can support such a large endeavour and do it continuously.
