The admin database is an in-house application developed to keep track of interactions with faculty (who are CNDLS’ clients) at Georgetown University. In short, it is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system tailored to the needs of the department. The goal was to identify and map relationships to learn where CNDLS could add more value and create connections.
I was one of the developers of the original project. As the Center grew and began to work on other initiatives, there was a need for a dashboard to track and analyze the type of skills available on staff and the hours for projects. The goal was to come up with a system that would help CNDLS provide more accurate estimations and also demonstrate the vast expertise in the organization. After conversations with stakeholders and colleagues to understand the needs, instead of spending time and money, I extended the Admin Database to serve these needs by creating a dashboard for this product. Currently, in addition to being the primary engineer on the product I also serve as the Chief Product Officer. This app is built using Django and MySQL.
