WordPress Infrastructure: Commons Course Blogs

The Commons course blogs is the primary blogging service that offered to faculty, staff and students at Georgetown University. It is a customized version of WordPress Multisite. It is used by faculty for course blogs, research blogs, etc and by students for ePortfolios. Several departments also use it as their primary CMS.

I serve as the Director for Systems Integration and Infrastructure for this project that holds approximately 7,000 blogs, I also provide strategic vision for the project. In partnership with the Executive Committee in the Center, I work with a team of staff and students to determine the roadmap for features and upgrades. I also help develop policy around the use of blogs for course purposes.

This project is an epitome of demonstrating how a small team of dedicated people can help address and serve the needs of the University community.
